Nobody likes to see ants marching into their Parkland

Parkland Ant Control and Prevention Services to Protect Your Family and Home.

Ants like to socialize. If you see one ant near your Parkland home, it usually means more a lurking nearby. The effective way to get rid of an ant problem is by going to the source of the problem, which means you need to find and treat the colony. Usually, there are multiple satellite ant colonies, which makes treating ants difficult as you kill one, but they will come back.

We have been eliminating ant problems in Broward and Palm Beach since 1974. There is not one issue our pest control technicians have not been able to solve. You can rest assured we will protect your home from an ant infestation.

Parkland Ghost Ants

In Florida, the ghost ant is mostly found from Sarasota to Orlando and south.  Ghost ant workers are extremely small, 1.3 to 1.5 mm long.  Head and thorax are a deep dark brown with gaster and legs opaque or milky white.  The ghost ant is highly adaptable in its nesting habits. It nests readily outdoors or indoors. Colonies may be moderate to large in size containing numerous reproducing females.  Indoors, the ant colonizes wall void or spaces between cabinetry and baseboards. It will also nest in potted plants.

Multiple queens may be spread out in multiple subcolonies. Usually, nesting occurs in disturbed areas, in flowerpots, under objects on the ground, under loose bark, and at the bases of palm fronds. Indoors, the ant nests in small spaces such as cracks, spaces between books, or wall voids. Indoor foragers often come from outside. This is a very common pest inside homes.

Big Headed Ants (BHA)

The BHA, a soil-nesting ant, is sometimes confused with subterranean termites because it may create debris-covered foraging tubes that are somewhat similar, albeit much more fragile, than termite tubes. More often these ants leave piles of loose sandy soil. Homeowners are annoyed by these "dirt piles" and by ants foraging in bathrooms, kitchens, around doors, and windows, as well as on exterior paved or brick walkways or driveways. Control of the BHA is difficult because the ant colonies are numerous and populations usually extend across property lines.

Carpenter Ants

The Florida carpenter ant complex is comprised of several species, two of which are common around structures. These bicolored arboreal ants are among the largest ants found in Florida, making them apparent as they forage or fly indoors and out.

Sometimes homeowners are concerned about damage to the structural integrity of their homes, which they sometimes incorrectly learn, is caused by Florida carpenter ants. However, unlike the wood-damaging black carpenter ant, Camponotus pennsylvanicus (DeGreer), found in Florida's panhandle and a few other western U.S. species, Florida carpenter ants seek either existing voids in which to nest or excavate only soft materials such as rotten or pithy wood and Styrofoam. Other concerns are that these ants sting (they do not) and bite (they do).

Because carpenter ants are used to living in the cold dampness of a tree stump, nothing could look more luxurious than your warm home. To them, it’s a giant stump heated year-round. They’ll take up residence in walls, floors, roofs, or any wood environment that looks cozy to them.

Sometimes the only evidence you’ll see is a single ant in your home or yard. But for every single ant you see, a thousand more can be lurking behind the scenes, potentially causing damage to the structure of your building. Unfortunately, the presence of carpenter ants is usually detected after their colonies are well established.
