NEW HYBRID TERMITE DISCOVERED IN SOUTH FLORIDA

|

Research Entomology Professors with the University of Florida have confirmed there is a new hybrid termite species that South Florida residents need to be aware of. The Asian termite and the Formosan subterranean termite have mated and created a hybrid offspring that is aggressive and can reproduce at twice the rate of their parent species.

That is extremely alarming when we already know that termites currently cause more than 5 billion dollars in property damage each year and these damages are not covered by homeowner’s insurance. Understanding that subterranean termites travel through the soil looking for food (the wood in your home), how can you protect your home before termite colonies cause significant damage?

How or when do you treat if you don’t know that they are there? This is termite swarming season and termites are everywhere. The sole reason they swarm is to relocate and establish new termite colonies. The best method of prevention and protection is to install the Sentricon early detection/colony elimination system in the ground around the perimeter of your home.

JP Miller & Sons has partnered with Dow AgroSciences and can offer professional installation and monitoring of the Sentricon system. Each station has always active technology, which means the system is constantly working to detect and eliminate termites. That is peace of mind for you and your family knowing that your greatest investment is protected from property damage caused by termites.
